Gel Nails

I am an avid nail biter. I often float off for thirty minutes and suddenly come-to with my fingers in my gob . Not only is it incredibly painful at times but as a Thirtysomething, it's also pretty embarrassing. Hygiene issues aside, I've been told that nothing spoils a lady like rubbish nails. However, the thought of wearing gloves or sitting on my hands for the rest of my days does nothing for me and since other preventative measures have also failed miserably (I like the taste of Stop n Grow!), I've decided to fake it 'til I've made it.

Gel nails appealed to me 1) because they give you fantastic looking nails in a relatively short amount on time and 2) because they're not acrylic nails. You see, I had a terrible acrylic nail experience that involved an eager nail technician, cuticle clippers and A LOT OF BLOOD. Gel nails are kinder to your nails which also appealed to me.

My nails took 45 minutes to apply (at a local nail bar) and they've lasted over 24 hours, which is amazing considering the state and size of my nail beds. Due to damage my nails are very rectangular in shape but I'm so excited to have dainty hands. The thought of buying nail varnish is making me hyperventilate.

Very frightened that I will wake up in the night with an errant gel nail in my eye but, so far so good. Pics to follow...
